It is one of the nation's original three comprehensive cancer centers designated by the National Cancer Institute.The Social Work department is here to help patients, their families, and their caregivers cope with the diagnosis of cancer and to eliminate psychosocial complications as significant barriers to care in Texas, the nation and the world through outstanding integrated programs in patient care, research, education and prevention.SummaryThe primary purpose of the Financial Analyst position is to independently manage and perform highly skilled accounting and fiscal operations for The Department of Social Work, to include monitoring accounts, analyzing business workflow processes and outcomes, reporting and financial functions. This position will be responsible for budget planning and execution, analysis, evaluation of complex special projects involving finance operations, strategic planning, and other related areas within the Department of Social Work.Key Functions
Produces comprehensive monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for department and division leaders to include free balance, personnel trending and account balance, transfers, and corrective actions by fund group. Reviews expenditures to ensure compliance with institutional policies and procedures across departmental funds.
Oversees and prepares the annual department budget. Verifies initial budget figures are loaded correctly, and monitors budget expense margins throughout the fiscal year ensuring the department meets annual fiscal goals. Performs analysis on specific areas or trends and discusses findings with department and division leaders.
Reviews and verifies monthly closeout of financials for institutional internal control compliance (i.e., Statistical Sampling Tool).
Develops projection models, rolling forecasts, and monitors performance. Creates and maintains databases and reporting tools to streamline departmental financial reporting.
Receives and processes departmental donations into the appropriate accounts and provides reporting to department and division leaders.
Provides recommendations on opportunities for both fund utilization and productivity enhancements to department leadership. Develops and designs custom reports to analyze operations of fiscal systems and identify/track variances within the department.
